ZANZIBAR – A DREAM FROM 1001 NIGHTS

The Zanzibar archipelago off the Tanzanian coast is an ideal destination for a varied beach holiday. The clear, turquoise blue water invites you to swim. Many small, almost extinct islands are ideal for day trips. In the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stone Town, the old town of Zanzibar, you will also find traces of the history when Zanzibar was a trading hub and belonged to the Prince of Oman.

Best travel time: All year round, excluding April and May.

Travel time: 5 days are enough for a first impression. For 7 days or more, it is worth living in different places on the island.

Travel planning: Zanzibar is ideal for bathing and cultural holidays. It is also perfect for a few relaxing days on the kilometer-long white sandy beaches after the safari .

Tip: The Mrembo Spa in Stone Town offers wonderful massages. All products are locally made and the Mrembo Spa offers a place to work for the physically handicapped (deaf, blind, deaf).

Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar
Pick up at the airport in Zanzibar and transfer to Nungwi on the northern tip of the island.

Day 2 – 5: Nungwi
Nungwi is located on the northernmost tip of Zanzibar and is one of the oldest holiday resorts on the island with a good tourist offer. Nungwi is popular with those who want to experience a lot and are not averse to local color. In addition, the beach is less dependent on the tides and scores with glowing red sunsets thanks to the cape. In addition to relaxing on the beach and the exuberant nightlife of the place, you can spend the time wonderfully with diving and snorkeling trips, dhow sailing or long walks along the coast.

Day 6 – 7: Stone Town
Drive to Stone Town with Spice Tour en route and stay in the capital of Zanzibar. Stone Town is the capital and heart of Zanzibar. The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and still largely consists of traditional Swahili houses with magnificent front doors that are only separated from each other by narrow, stone alleys. The following day, you will be brought closer to the city, steeped in history, during a guided city tour and you will be hosted by a family for a local meal.

Day 8: Excursion to Uzi Island
Today you will make a special excursion away from the main tourist activities in Zanzibar: With a minibus and the Daladala you will visit Uzi Island, an island in the southwest of Zanzibar, which is connected to the mainland at low tide. You explore the dense mangrove forests on the coast with an outrigger canoe. In a village you will be brought closer to the life of the local population. You will have a tasty Swahili meal for lunch. In the afternoon you can go swimming in one of the beautiful secluded bays on the island and then return to Stone Town.

Day 9: Dhow Safari
To round off your stay with the Swahili, you go out to sea in a traditional dhow and visit the Prison Island off Stone Town with its giant tortoise population. Explore the underwater world of the coral reefs while snorkeling, relax on the beach and enjoy the Zanzibar-style barbecue picnic lunch. In the afternoon return to the bustle of Stone Town. In the evening, visit the Forodhani Garden at the House of Wonders and put together a delicious dinner.

Day 10: Departure
Even the most beautiful vacation comes to an end. You will be taken to the airport in the early morning and it is time to say goodbye to Tanzania.
