Ban on Fishing in Mato Grosso Follows Between October and January

Normative of the ministries of environment and agriculture was published in the Diário Oficial da União

The ministries of agriculture and environment signed the Normative Statement which establishes the prohibition of fishing in Mato Grosso from 1st October to 31 January.

The standard signed by Ministers Blairo Maggi and José Sarney Filho was published in the Official Gazette, and covers the Amazon river basins, Araguaia-Tocantins and Paraguay.

It will be the second time in a row the new spawning period – when fishing is forbidden to fish reproduction. 2016-17 season she has already been tried.

In a statement, the Ministry of agriculture says that the joint decision is based on technical studies of researchers from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), the Secretariat of State and Environment (EMS-MT) and the State Council for fisheries (CEPESCA). “And with the participation of representatives of the productive sector and artisanal fishing in the region belonging to the State Board of fisheries of Mato Grosso”.
