Bolivia

The Bolivia is right next door, inexpensive and offers a multitude of itineraries for all tastes. Want to climb mountains? There is one of the Andean paradises, with several mountains above 6000 meters and very close to the capital. Want to do mountain biking? Kayak? Or just want to be a traditional tourist? Because it has it all, at prices more than accessible and just a few hours flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil’s output port.

La Paz is the highest capital in the world and lies about 3600 m altitude. El Alto, the city surrounding La Paz, is the more than 4000 m. Regardless of what you decide to do in the country, set at least 4 or 5-day visit to the capital, at the start of the trip, so you can acclimate to the high altitude and thin air. This will make a tremendous difference in the following days and probably few places will bother, as the ski slope the world’s highest, Chacaltaya, more than 5500 m. Some ruins, like Tiwanaku, should be part of these days in the capital. In fact, they’re out of La Paz and will require one day to meet you. But work well as acclimatization.

Spend an evening on the edge of Lake Titicaca and sleep in Copacabana. If you scale, probably will begin by the Cordillera Real, trapped in La Paz. Note some places further afield, but worth the effort: Salar de Uyuni and Sajama National Park (Sarrama). The Sajama is a stratovolcano, the highest mountain in Bolivia, and for being in a volcanic region, there are numerous swimming pools of hot springs and geysers in the vicinity of the village of the same name.

There are no hotels and accommodation in houses of residents, are the simplest possible. But bathing in swimming pools more than 30oC, with views of the snowy mountains, is a unique experience!

The best time to visit lasts from May to September, during the drought. In the summer, usually it rains a lot.

Bolivia with Trails & Directions

To meet the most tourist itineraries, Bolivia with its capital La Paz or the ruins of Tiwanaku, we suggest a small backpack as the Crampon 38, very versatile for use in General. With front pocket and bottom access, has side pockets for water bottles and smaller barrigueira the little pocket for small things.

For short walks a nice option is the Kit Acqua, Fanny Pack light with support for two clutches of water and inside pocket for documents. Because it’s a city of high altitude, it is important to have a garment that support low temperatures, as the Thermotex Shelter. Made in Polar fabric, has a high thermal insulation and can be used alone or under our waterproof shelters (such as Shelter Parkha, Anorak Storm Shelter or Shelter from Time Sealed Anorak). Has a special version for women or people leaner, the Thermotex Gazelle.

The hydration issue must be looked at carefully in any physical activity. The Trails & Directions has several options of canteens, including Flexible Hidrat 2 Canteen, which holds two liters of water and is adaptable to various models of bags. The water outlet is made by a hose that connected to the canteen, reaches the mouth of the user and allows him to drink even in motion.
